Verizon and Google: Together...Again

David Fish posted in PolicyBlog Broadband  on March 30, 2010, 11:09 AM EST

Verizon and Google CEOs, Ivan Seidenberg and Eric Schmidt, today highlighted what they see as the three stand-out components of the FCC's national broadband plan.  In a Wall Street Journal op-ed, the Internet sector duo cites the importance of innovation online, increasing access to the highest-quality broadband available, and making high-speed connections available to all Americans.  "The FCC underscores the importance of creating the right climate for private investment and market-driven innovation to advance broadband," write Seidenberg and Schmidt.  "That's the right approach and why we are encouraged to see the FCC's plan." They agree "the framework of minimal government involvement should continue." Today's op-ed follows two recent joint filings at the FCC by Verizon and Google, as well as the two companies'  collaboration on the Droid.
