. Back in February I wrote some words here that have since lived in infamy. “MLB Coming to FiOS, Mom and Apple Pie Rejoice!” Mom’s now nearly a year older, and that apple pie is pretty cold. But there is, finally, a reason to rejoice. MLB Network and MLB Extra Innings are coming to FiOS TV in 2009. MLB Network debuts on Jan. 1 in standard-def on channel 86 and in HD on channel 586. FiOS TV will also carry MLB Extra Innings with up to 80 out-of-market games per week. All thanks to a new multi-year agreement between Verizon and MLB. Rogers Hornsby once said, “People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.” We’re glad FiOS TV customers who love baseball won’t have to stare out the window for too much longer. We’re sorry for the wait and appreciate their patience. .

Well, it is ABOUT time. Two questions: 1. What are you going to do for those of us who have been waiting not 1 but 2 years for this and have remained with you as customers? 2.Is there any information on whether the Extra Innings game will be in SD or HD?

As one of the many people who complained about the failure to deliver MLB EI last year, it is only proper that I write now to say thank you for delivering in 2009. With MLB EI, NHL CI,the addition of a large number of HD channels, and the early prospect of having the NHL Network, Verizon FIOS is more than living up to my expecations.

Will I be able to watch MLB EI games through my HD TIVO with CableCards?? Is that possible now with the NHL Center Ice package? I was able to with comcast but unable to with Cox Cable and hope I will be able to with FiOS.

I was one of your biggest critics. I am also a man of my word. Now that you have MLB EI I am switching all three of my services from Cablevision to Fios. My install is scheduled for 12/7. Please do not disappoint me!

Jim, As long as you subscribe to MLB Extra Innings and NHL Center Ice, you should have no problem watching the games in both packages with the set-up you describe. We expect to begin offering NHL Center Ice in HD very soon. Eric
