Welcome to the blogosphere. I'm so glad that Verizon is finally jumping into the online fray. So much can be gained from open discussion, and I, for one, am eager to hear what you've got to say. Prove to us that you are as good as your words...we don't want "corporate-speak." We want real opinions from real people on real issues. So blog on dude...

Congratulations on launching your blog! I look forward to following the discussion -- of which I'm sure there will be plenty as you take on this controversial topic. Kudos to you and I hope more companies learn from your example.

Why is your service so costly and not very good in the Richmond Il area. We can not even get DSL or any of the good things you sell eleswhere.

Hopefully you have been reading my articles. I know your competitors are. I give Verizon credit for focusing on improving the infrastructure with fiber optics (FTTP). As I have stated in columns....Adding DSL to copper is like putting a vinyl top on a stagecoach in the era of the space shuttle. It's still old technology. www.carliniscomments.com

This may not be the type of topic that you want to address in your shiny new blog, but I think Verizon needs to be exposed for it's incompetence. How can Verizon be in such a rush to roll out it's FIOS service when you don't even offer simple voicemail service to your customers in the 845-462 nnx in Dutchess County, NY. Voicemail has been offered to the rest of your customers for at least the past 15 years, why can't your customers in Wappingers Falls, NY get the service?

What's the deal with using Javascript to disable various navigation buttons in my browser? That is very unfriendly. Good luck with the blogging. I'd love to hear more about the process behind the recent DSL not-a-price-increase-but-a-Supplier-Surcharge debacle.

Ive heard a lot of good things about Wi-MAX - It is predicted to surpass the current EVDO and other 3G formats? How do you plan to keep up with this latest new technology?

Mark: Good question. I think that would make for an excellent Poliblog post. I'll get on that. CZ

WiMAX? Child's play. UWB will rue the day if the NSA doesn't successfully squash it.

Welcome to the blogosphere. Good to have another voice join Cisco on the corporate side of public policy blogging. While Cisco Worldwide Government Affairs has had our own blog focusing on public policy since February of 2005, I still think government seats in the U.S. and around the world are slow to recognize blogs as a vital part of policy debates. We welcome Verizon in helping raise the visibility of this medium.

Welcome to blogging, Tom. I was an intern for your office when you represented the (hmm? Second District? of Iowa) in the House. It's always fun, now, to hear your distinctive voice on the airwaves. My family still speaks highly of you. The reasons why, to me, are apparent in the thoughtful approach you're bringing to this forum. Good luck ~
