One month ago today, we had bloggers with ZNF get their hands dirty with FiOS TV’s Interactive Media Guide (IMG), called “FiOSTV 2.0” by some.   It’s been rolling out across the 12 states we offer FiOS TV (next week: Massachusetts!) and so thought I’d share a status report.

The reviews have been great, most people seem to be genuinely wowed by the new guide, and I’m happy to report the IMG will keep getting better.   See this note from the Interactive Media Guide team I got today:

We really appreciate all of the comments and interest our new Interactive Media Guide (IMG) is generating.  Launching the IMG last week to our existing customers was a momentous occasion for those of us directly involved in creating FiOS TV.  We will continue to roll-out the IMG to all regions throughout the coming weeks.

Our immediate plans include a maintenance release to be launched 4Q07.  New enhancements to the IMG will include:

-          Scaled video while you are in the menus finding the next show or movie to watch.

-          Better program information with richer descriptions.

-          New reminder system, for future TV shows or PPV events.

-          Efficient way to flip through your favorite channels while hiding others.

-          Better management of your DVR settings and schedule.

-          Expanded help topics, and more video tutorials.

Future releases targeted for 2008 will include games, the ablity to program the DVR remotely, and much more.  We believe, and many of our customers have told us, that we have a good product.  But this is just the beginning, we are deeply committed to making FiOS TV the best entertainment product on the market!

UPDATE (9/18/07): We hear you!  Thanks for all the great comments and suggestions.  We’ve incorporated many of them into a maintenance release that we intend to deploy shortly after we finish deploying version 1.0 across the country.  Keep the feedback coming.
