Interesting read. I definitely like the fact that the system is easily upgradable to meet future customer bandwidth demands. I hope that the HD content situation (lowest # of HD channels among other providers) works out for Verizon because that is the only complaint I have after switching from satellite to FiOS. Verizon has the capacity to offer more channels and at a higher quality than other providers, but they need to get those contracts signed.

Matt, I'm definitely with you. But, like all good things in life, there is often a limit. Frankly, I'm tired of waiting for Verizon to catch up and deploy HD channels on par with those available from other legacy providers. All of my televisions in my residence are HD, and analog channels upconverted from 480i just don't cut it any more. I grow annoyed when my neighbors all brag about the HD channels they have that I don't, and then resorting to the "I thought Verizon had the best network" jab when I tell them I don't. At the end of the day, I'm left with the fewest HD channels available, poor analog channel images (which I know is being rectified, but slowly), an interactive media guide that is tremendously buggy and seems to get worse each successive release, and 4 CableCARDs for my 2 TiVo DVRs that frequently deactivate for no reason whatsoever, totally ruining my TV experience and requiring several calls to the Fiber Solutions Center, Billing, Sales, FSC, Billing, Sales, and then the FSC... all in that order, with hours of wasted time on hold. I still have two cards that aren't fully functioning, on both DVRs, resulting in a fun time trying to swap between the tuners to actually watch TV. I ask myself in the end: is it all worth it? I'm starting to think that I only want to keep FiOS in place for Internet (as I truly enjoy my 15/15), and going satellite for video instead. Call me crazy, but Verizon's poor capacity planning in the beginning shouldn't take this long to rectify, and FiOS consumers shouldn't be stuck having to wait while they sort it out and being left behind the curve.

Eric, I'm sorry but you have no credibility with the verizon community. You completely mislead everyone on Fios getting MLB Extra Innings this year. So anything that you write or say means absolutely nothing to us. What makes FIOS so fantastic? Absolutley nothing.......by the way, we're all waiting for 5 times the HD channels by the end of 2008 that we were promised in November of 2007.
