I have experienced the FIOS system at my Mother in Law's home in Delaware County PA. Bottom line? It's amazing. I'm living in Cecil County Maryland and am HOPING that soon, Verizon will bring this same service to our semi rural area since we're stuck with ONE cable provider. We currently got the "new" Verizon DSL, but it can't hold a candle to FIOS. C'mon Verizon ... "light us up" here in Cecil County!

I am happy to see Verizon's Fios service expanding, but as a resident in one of the most tech-savvy and heavily population areas in the US, SILICON VALLEY, I am outraged that Verizon has no immediate or even long-term plans to provide Fios service to Silicon Valley, the place where much of Fios technology was developed. I know infrastructure costs are high, especally when you aren't the local telco around here, but that is no excuse. I don't think Verizon is properly looking into the average income and disposable income in Silicon Valley. It just doesn't make sense that the people of Victorville, CA, a small town outside Barstow, CA, have Verizon Fios TV and Internet and while the people of San Jose, Fremont, Oakland, and San Francisco, CA not only are not getting Verizon FIOS Service, but there is no plan to implement here. I hope messages like this will change Verizon's decision and hopefully we will see an announcement soon that Verizon will bring FIOS to the San Francisco Bay Area, especially the Silicon Valley. Thank You.

Papool, Thanks for the comment. You're correct, the Bay area has a large number of candidates who would want a service like FiOS. But there are also many current customers living in current VZ areas who also want FiOS. Our build of this is just a few years along, with lots of homes still to pass. We're moving at full tilt and are happy there is demand like this being voiced. I will share your comment within VZ, rest assured.

John, Please take this comment seriously when I tell you that they have FiOS within 1 mile of me, but not at my home. My zip is 90049, but they have FiOS fully deployed in Santa Monica, which is actually less than a mile away! I've tried calling in multiple times, but no one seems to listen to me (or believe me for that matter...) I appreciate a response, Michael

Michael - I'm in the same boat... Verizon vans all over the area - Manhattan Beach, etc., but not in our city next door (El Segundo, 90245). I believe we even sit on top of verizon's fiber, but they haven't offered it to us yet. Frustrating to go to our local mall and have the Verizon Fios booth pitching the product, but not be able to buy it.

I live in West San jose, Ca. I have to live with att's slowest dsl for the past 5 years and I'm in pain to get faster connection (att said my house is too far away from their switch to get a faster speed). When will fios become available to my home? Please advise, thanks!

Um. I live in the Bay Area *and* I am a Verizon phone customer and I still don't have Fios available to me. As the original commenter stated, it is crazy that your most tech savvy customers don't have access to the service. Who else is better to build software that will help drive adoption rates? I certainly think some of what I have written in the past has helped create the demand but I can't take advantage of your service yet at home and I am stuck with Comcast at 6Mbs....

Jon, While I'm not sure exactly where you live, I can say that we're deploying as fast as possible. There was no such thing as FiOS in 2004, and now we pass millions of homes (see above). But that doesn't help you. We're pushing in CA, and I hope we can get to you soon. There are also regulatory, ompetitive, and political factors that go into deployment as well, so it's hard to say when fiber is coming to your specific door. Thanks for reading, CZ

I'm in Oakland CA and I am also angry about the lack of, and eager for FiOS in our area. We have fiber optic cables already laid about 30 feet from my house for the past 15 years, they still aren't lit! I'm dying here!

@ Papool Chaudhari: I wish You could've gotten Your facts a bit straighter, Victorville CA is not a small town outside of Barstow(there's a 35 mile distance between the two, I know as I drive that way during the holidays here), Barstow CA has a population of about 23,628 Victorville is nearly four times that size(98,662) and most people there can afford FiOS, But then there are a decent amount of People there who commute to work from there to the San Bernardino or Los Angeles areas. Verizon will go where the money is at first most likely and other areas later on I'd think.

I would gladly pay $200 a month for your service if West San Jose or Playa del Rey have the service. $200 is the same amount to fill up my car if I commute to work for 2 weeks.

I'm in the same boat as Bob Gatchel. We reside in Comcast Country in Cecil County MD, and its absolutely pathetic what we are offered by comcast. No in Demand, no HD, just digital cable, and not even Philly CSN. I currently have DTV for tv and Comcast for internet, FIOS please start planning CC, MD. Come undo the monopoly that Comcast has and put them in their place. I live in a new community, and every one of my neighbors is counting down till when we see the Verizon trucks.

I live in Yermo CA(92398) which is 10 miles from Barstow CA(92311), Victorville CA is 45 miles away by freeway(I15), Time Warner Cable is out here and yes I have Verizon DSL and would love to have FiOS. But since I'm on a fixed income as I'm Disabled and My costs would probably go up as the lifeline service would probably be discontinued.
